In response to a couple of questions I've received lately from graduate students, the Head of Access Services and I have drawn up this list of suggestions for avoiding fines in the future:
· Return any books you won’t be needing (Remember: You can always keep a list of your readings on RefWorks, Zotero, or another bibliographic manager so that you can retrieve them again later!)
· Return ALL books from Interlibrary Loan and MOBIUS. Fines will be assessed. (These books do not belong to WashU.)
· Renew your remaining books before you leave for the summer.
· If you speak to a Circulation Supervisor (935-5420) before you leave, your library account may be extended.
· Notice that your Expiration date is given on your “My Catalog” Record (upper right side of the screen).
· Check your account from time to time while you’re off-campus. If you notice a problem or have a question, contact the Circulation staff ASAP (935-5420).
· All of the above bullet points will NOT protect you from books being Recalled and fines being assessed for recalled items that are not returned on time. However, if this happens, contact a Circulation Supervisor (935-5420) who will see if a workaround can be arranged.
Any time you have questions or concerns about your library account, you can always contact Circulation Staff at 935-5420 for assistance.
