Google Scholar now creates a list of top publications in various research areas. Interestingly, the top publications in physics includes several arXiv sections. See: **Top Publications - Physics and Mathematics**

As the **Quanta Magazine** website notes, traditional news sites tend to emphasize developments in health, medicine, technology, and engineering. Quanta seeks to fill the gaps by emphasizing the complex worlds of mathematics, theoretical physics, theoretical computer science, and the basic life sciences. Recent articles have illuminated the intricacies of advancements in the modeling of prime numbers, examined how scientists are unlocking the hardest-to-read parts of genomes, and offered a Q&A with quantum computing pioneer, Peter Byrne. The magazine can be scouted by Topics (biology, physics, mathematics, computer science, and a dozen others), or by Most Viewed. For readers looking for higher level math and science reporting, this is an excellent place to start.

**Problem Book in Relativity and Gravitation**, by Alan Lightman, is now available online for free, with the permission of its publisher, Princeton University Press. It will be added to the WU Library catalog soon.

NASA announced its plan for a policy ensuring public access to articles and data resulting from the approximately $3 billion it invests annually in basic and applied research, as required by the February 2013 White House directive. NASA has provided a detailed timeline for the final policy to be fully developed, and is slating October 2015 as the goal for full implementation to begin. NASA’s plan includes provisions for making both articles and data resulting from its funded research publicly available.

For a complete summary of the new eJournal backfiles and eBook packages added in January, get more info here.

This is the time of year when we lose our online access to a few titles; which titles is unpredictable of course. The sooner we can report these issues the sooner they can be resolved. To report problems, please just email Alison or you can use the EJ problem report form if you prefer. Thank you.

WU Libraries have recently finalized a new contract with Elsevier. As part of the negotiation process, we have purchased numerous ejournal archives, including the General Physics archive and the High Energy Nuclear Physics & Astronomy archive. The backfiles will cover from the first volume through 1994 (unless the title ceased earlier than that). All titles are available through a search of the WU Library Catalog. I have a complete list if you would like to see it, but there are over 120 titles in the physics collections alone.
