If you've used Philosopher's Index or PsycINFO this month you may have noticed some changes, cosmetic and otherwise, to the EBSCOHost interface. Two important changes to be aware are (1) search results are now displayed according to EBSCOHost's relevancy ranking rather than by descending date and (2) search terms entered in the same box are no longer treated as a phrase--as if the terms were enclosed in quotes in Google search. Instead, search results will include occurrences of both terms within five words of each other--a "W5 proximity search." Additional improvements include an enhanced PDF viewer and enhanced capabilities for refining results.
Readers access online journals from Blackwell-Wiley and Springer will also noticed new interfaces. Publishers have been busy this summer: http://wulibraries.typepad.com/whatsnew/2010/08/wiley-and-springer-outages-aug-78.html
