Digital Handbook of the Philosophy of Science

The Library recently purchased online versions of titles in the the Handbook of Philosophy of Science series, edited by Dov M. Gabbay, Paul Thagard, and John Woods. According to the publisher:

The Handbook of the Philosophy of Science is a comprehensive, multi-volume research collection with contributions from leading figures in all areas of the philosophy of science....The Handbook is the most extensive examination ever published of philosophical issues in the sciences, both basic and applied. EBooks from Olms

The Libraries have purchased the Olms Editions Reprint e-book package which includes 400 volumes of reprints of works published by the Georg Olms Verlag in Hildesheim. These electronic versions also include new introductions, afterwords, notes or indexes added by the editors.

The package includes a number of important works of 18th- and 19th-century philosophy: the Suphan edition of Herder's Sämtliche Werke, Christian Wolff's Gesammelte Werke, as well as works by Herman Cohen, Christian Thomasius, and others.

The package also includes the Frankfurt and Leipzig Book catalogs from 1594-1860. This provides an overview of book production over a period of nearly 300 years (1594-1860).

Records for individual eBooks have not yet been included in the Library catalog.

SEG Now Available Online

We now have access to the online version of the Supplementum Epigraphicum Graecum (SEG), published by Brill. The SEG the indexes and summarizes new publications on the study of Greek Inscriptions. It often includes the text of new discovered inscriptions and reports new readings. The online version allows a range of different searches across the entire collection including by volume and lemma, by a geographic location, and by a variety of index terms, as well as full-text.

SEG users may also be interested in the concordance between the IG (Inscriptiones Graecae) and the SEG developed by the Seminar für Alte Geschichte, WWU Münster in cooperation with the Arbeitsstelle Inscriptiones Graecae an der Berlin-Brandenburgischen Akademie der Wissenschaften. You can enter a reference from the IG and find all the references to that inscription in the SEG.

ScienceDirect Psychology Back Files

We recently purchased electronic back files for psychology journals on Elsevier's ScienceDirect.  You will now find articles not previously accessible electronically or ones that were difficult or even impossible to locate in print. Our access will include all articles, right back to the very first issue of each publication (where possible). Titles of particular interest to the PNP program include

• Biological Psychology (1973-1994)
• Cognition (1972-1994)
• Cognitive Brain Research (1992-1994)--subsequently incorporated into Brain Research
