WU faculty senate adopts open access resolution

In case you missed this news, the WU faculty senate adopted a resolution which encourages faculty members to make their scholarly and creative works freely available online.

New Springer ebooks for June

NSF Data Management Plans

I have posted a small page on NSF Data Management Plans in response to a few questions I've been receiving this month from biology department researchers. Since I know some math folks have NSF funding, I thought I'd post here also. I welcome your additional suggestions and questions.

Journal access changes and needs?

We are not doing a thorough journal review this year because we do not expect major budget cuts in fy12. However the usual way we add new subscriptions is to cancel old subscriptions of equal value/year. Subscription changes (adds and cancels) are due August 1st (yes this seems incredibly early to me too!) so if you there are journals we lack which you need for your research or teaching, please contact Ruth Lewis [rlewis@wustl.edu] as soon as possible, so we can begin negotiations. Thank you.

Fulltext access to NTIS reports added

NTIS/NTRL (National Technical Reports Library)
'The National Technical Information Service acquires, indexes, abstracts, and archives the largest collection of U.S. government-sponsored technical reports in existence. The NTRL offers access to these authenticated government technical reports to libraries and technical information users.' This is a subscription site that includes indexing for 2 million+ titles with links to over 600,000 full-text reports (in PDF). More info.

NTIS publishes documents in many subject areas but is not generally considered an index to mathematics literature. However, many reports each month are tagged as "mathematics." Recent Mathematics reports. Search titles in the new NTIS/NTRL library to get to fulltext or search words in Advanced Search in NTIS/NTRL library and then limit by Subject Category: Mathematics.
