XSLT Workshop

XSLT (extensible stylesheet language transformation) has changed the way I work.  It allows you to manage/manipulate data that is valid XML.  This is the main tool I use to crosswalk metadata, and also to work on projects in DLS.  A few weeks ago I taught an introductory course to my colleagues in DLS based on a workshop from Amigos, which I took last winter.

Overall, I think everyone came away with a better understanding of XSLT; however, we tried to cover a lot of material.  We spent three hours on areas that took me three days to learn.  Learning and using XSLT is a slow process that develops over time.  This workshop was a great way for my colleagues to gain a better understanding of XSLT and it also served as a test scenario for teaching another workshop in conjunction with XML training.
