G3: Genes | Genomes | Genetics (Genetic Society of America) - June 2011+
Scientific Reports (Nature Publishing Group) - June, 2011+
In addition several Wiley Open Access titles will launch in 2011: Brain and Behavior, Ecology and Evolution, MicrobiologyOpen, OncologyOpen, GastroenterologyOpen
And probably some I haven't mentioned. Oh my!
-- Science as a public enterprise - The Royal Society has begun a "major policy study on the use of scientific information as it affects scientists and society. It will ask how scientific information should be managed to support innovative and productive research that reflects public values." | If it ain't open it ain't science (blog post and some comments about the project)
-- Archiving legacy data, or “Why is Dryad better than a floppy disk?” - I thought this blog post was interesting. Subject archives may be superior for sharing anyway and we don't really have institutional archive option at WU at this point so Dryad is certainly a repository to consider if you are interested in archiving and sharing your data.
-- An open access resolution for WU was passed by the faculty senate on May 9, 2011, see point (5) in the minutes. I'm sure we will be hearing more about this soon.
