Designinform contains three separate design databases on one platform: Design Abstracts Retrospective, Design ProFILES, and ReVIEW.
Design Abstracts Retrospective (DAR), is a "new ongoing abstracting and indexing service that aims to cover many of the most important design and applied arts journals and annuals published during the twentieth century. Titles in the initial releases have been selected because of their outstanding international coverage and breadth of scope. DAR covers articles on all design, from architecture to embroidery."
Design ProFILES (DP), is a biographical dictionary of modern designers, craftspeople, artists and architects. "This resource covers the same subject fields as DAR and is the largest and most comprehensive dictionary of design and designers ever compiled. It includes profiles of every single designer, architect, craftsperson, studio, workshop, etc. whose work is discussed or illustrated in the journals and yearbooks covered by DAR."
and ReVIEW, full-text nineteenth and early twentieth century art journals. ReVIEW "aims to digitize many of the most important decorative and fine arts journals published in Europe and the USA during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries." The first two journals digitized by ReVIEW are The Studio (London, Volumes 1-50, 1893-1910) and Deutsche Kunst und Dekoration (Darmstadt, Germany, Volumes 1-27, 1897-1910).
